AMIS Solo and Ensemble Festival
Posted 08/02/2017 08:04

Eleven St George’s students from Years 8-12 took part in a trip to the American School of the Hague from the 27-28th of January to participate in the AMIS Solo and Ensemble Festival. They travelled with Mrs Ni and Mr Burrowes (Secondary) and Ms Bydder (Primary) who participated as a piano accompanist for the trip. Each of the 11 students performed a solo in front of an adjudicator specialising on their instrument as well as any students from any school that wished to attend. In addition, ten of the students performed in various ensembles on the day. The students were taken by bus in coordination with the ISL who enjoyed both getting to meet and to hear some of our fellow Luxembourg residents perform while at the festival. Our students were also able to participate in masterclasses at the end of the day where each adjudicator ran a workshop on their instrument. Finally, the certificates were awarded to each school and the three ‘Honors’ performers awarded with a I+ (distinction) performed for the assembled students and teachers. With around 400 students attending on the day, there were some fantastic performances and a huge congratulations to all of our St George’s participants is in order! Well done to all of you!
