The Ministry of Environment, lead since it began and for the last four years by Ioanna B, is cooperating with the school in order to achieve the Eco Schools Britain Bronze and Silver Awards. Eco-Schools is a global programme engaging millions of children across 64 different countries, making it the largest environmental schools programme in the world.
We would like to thank Ioanna for her initiation of this fantastic project. Her perseverance and motivation over the last four years made this project a reality!
The inaugural meeting of the Eco-Committee was held on June 7th 2016 to confirm to school’s engagement and it agreed that the Ministry of Environment conduct reports on the schools environmental policy and impact.
On Wednesday November 23rd 2016 St George's took a historical step towards creating an ecological school-wide environmental policy. The second Eco-Committee meeting took place.All the top members of the senior management including Dr Barkei, Mr Fleet, Mrs Nuttall. Governor Mr Schonenberg attended representing the board of governors. Mrs Kruten represented the school finance department. The meeting was chaired by Ioanna. Future actions focusing on raising awareness, recycling, and healthy living were discussed, along with a review of the current situation.
A huge thank you to all the members of the school community who made time to contribute to the meeting. The school is now officially a registered Eco School!
